1. Quina és la teva opinió sobre Catalunya? Què penses de Catalunya?
La meva opinió sobre Catalunya és, i sempre ha estat, extremadament bona. He tingut la sort d’haver pogut passar molt de temps a les ciutats catalanes i sempre n’he gaudit molt. Arribaria al punt d’afirmar que Barcelona és la meva ciutat favorita al món. Penso que els catalans són un exemple a seguir com a membres d’una nació petita, perquè han aconseguit mantenir la seva identitat, cultura i història, i també per haver estès els seus valors al voltant del món.
2. Com valoraries el nacionalisme català? Què penses de les exigències/reivindicacions dels nacionalistes catalans?
Crec molt en les reclamacions nacionals dels catalans i penso que en un món cada vegada més globalitzat, on la igualtat s'aclama com a ideal, és important mantenir i reforçar els valors nacionals i els drets de nacions més petites com Catalunya. Estic especialment impressionada per la manera com els catalans proclamen les seves reivindicacions nacionals d'una manera pacífica i racional, i desitjaria que altres nacions més petites seguissin el seu exemple. La qüestió de la independència de Catalunya, a nivell funcional, mai no m’ha semblat un tema complicat; sempre he pensat que tenia sentit que passés.
3. Què hauríem de fer nosaltres (la societat catalana i el govern) per enfortir la nostra presència i la nostra influència a l'estranger?
Com que em dedico a teoritzar sobre resolució de conflictes, he tingut ocasió de treballar amb alguns grups nacionals i altres petites nacions que reivindiquen la independència, o almenys un cert autogovern. Massa sovint ha resultat que aquestes reivindicacions acabaven caient en moviments violents o en malentesos. Penso que la millor manera que té Catalunya de millorar el seu prestigi internacional és seguir proclamant les seves reivindicacions pacíficament i amb claredat; i seguir compartint amb el món la meravella de la seva història i de la seva cultura. Ensenyeu al món qui sóu i per què té sentit que demaneu més drets. Feu-ho sempre amb diplomàcia i baseu-vos en els vostres punts forts, que són molts!
4. Coneixes catalans que visquin al teu país? Quina opinió en tens?
No conec cap català que visqui al meu país, però estic segura que n'hi deu haver alguns. I estic convençuda que seran tan simpàtics i amistosos com els meus propis amics catalans, i com la resta de catalans que m’he trobat a Catalunya o viatjant.
5. Coneixes la feina de les delegacions catalanes a l'exterior? Hi ha alguna delegació al teu país?
De moment no hi ha cap delegació catalana a Noruega, i he d'admetre que tinc molt poc coneixement de què fan les delegacions catalanes a la resta del món. En tot cas, m'agradaria, saber-ne més. I estic segura que les tradicions i la cultura catalanes serien molt ben rebudes aquí a Noruega!

1. What is your opinion about Catalonia?
My opinion about Catalonia is, and has always been an extremely good one. I have been lucky enough to spend a lot of time in the Catalan cities, and have always enjoyed my time there, even going as far as claiming Barcelona to be my favorite city in the world. I think the Catalans are an example to be followed when it comes to being part of a small nation, having managed to maintain their identity, culture and history, and also managing to spread their values around the world.
2. How do you judge the national claims of Catalonia? What do you think about them?
I strongly believe in the national claims of the Catalans, and I think that in an increasingly globalized world, where similarities are being hailed as the ideal, it is important to maintain and strengthen the national values and rights of smaller nations like Catalonia. I am especially impressed by the way the Catalans are maintaining their national claims in an utterly peaceful and rational way, and I wish that other smaller nations would follow their example. For me, the question of Catalan independence, on a functioning level, has never been a difficult one; it has always made sense to me for it to happen.
3. What do you believe should be done to improve our international prestige?
Being a conflict theoretic, I have worked with several national groups and smaller nations attempting to claim independence, or at least some form of self-government, and more often than not, I have seen these attempts slide into violence and misunderstandings. I think the best way of improving the Catalan international prestige, is to continue to state your claims peacefully and clearly, and to continue sharing your wonderful history and culture with the world. Show the world who you are, and why it makes sense to increase your rights – and always do it diplomatically; build on your strengths – there are so many of them!
4. Do you know Catalans who live in your country? What is your opinion about them?
I do not know of any Catalans living in my country, but I am sure there are some, and I am also sure that they are as nice and friendly as my own Catalan friends and as other Catalans I have met both in Catalonia and when traveling.
5. Do you know the work of the Catalan delegations (embassies) around the world? Is there a delegation in your country?
At the moment there is no Catalan delegation in Norway, and I must admit that I have very little knowledge of what the delegations are doing around the world. I would, however, like to know more about this, and I am sure that the Catalan traditions and culture would be well received here in Norway!
