No estem sols: agraïment al Viceprimer Ministre del Regne Unit
El passat 14 de juliol, el diputat del Plaid Cymru, Hywel Williams, va presentar una Moció al Parlament de Westminster sobre l'Estatut de Catalunya (Early Day Motion n.509):
"That this House notes that more than one million people attended the 10 July 2010 protest in Barcelona in favour of proper powers for Catalonia; welcomes the continuing debate over the constitution of Catalonia; believes Catalonia to be a nation; recognises that independently organised votes on independence have shown a majority in favour; expresses concern that the democratic will of the people of Catalonia asshown in the 2006 referendum on the Statute of Autonomy should be over-ruled by the judiciary of Madrid in its ruling of June 2010; expresses further concern that future constitutional developments in Catalonia which take place with the support of thegovernment and people of Catalonia may face judicial review by organisations which are not neutral or independent in this matter; and calls for the 2006 statute to be carried out in the form which was supportedat the ballot box and that the residents of Catalonia should be allowed the right to determine democratically their own future."
Actualment la Moció segueix la seva tramitació i ja compta amb 14 signatures de suport, entre elles les dels diputats del Partit Liberal Demòcrata: Andrew George, Mike Hancock i John Hemming. Caldrà seguir la tramitació de la iniciativa en les properes setmanes, però és evident que, acabi com acabi, cal agrair tots aquests suports des del Regne Unit a la causa catalana i en favor de les nostres aspiracions nacionals.
No estem sols! És per aquest motiu que he adreçat, en qualitat de Vice president del Partit Liberal Demòcrata Europeu, aquesta carta al líder dels Liberals Democrats i actualment Vice Primer Ministre del Regne Unit, el col·lega liberal Nick Clegg:
Com escrivia fa pocs dies en un article publicat al diari Avui i El Punt, sota el títol: Interessos nacionals i estratègia internacional, ens cal aprofundir al màxim en les nostres aliances a l'exterior per tal de fer un bon servei al nostre país i al seu esdevenir com a nació lliure en el marc europeu.
